Comment (Deposit): A BLAST FURNACE PRODUCING 30-35 T. PIG IRON DAILY OPERATED ON PROPERTY 1880-85 USING CHARCOAL MADE LOCALLY AND LIMESTONE MINED NEARBY. RED AND YELLOW OCHRE SHIPPED FROM VICINITY IN LATE 1920'S FOR MINERAL PAINT.

Comment (Production): PROD. OVER 15,000 T PIG IRON (1883). LOCATED 1857 BUT NO ORE SHIPPED UNTIL 1869 - BLAST FURNACE OPERATED 1880-1885 - NO PRODUCTION OF LOWER GRADE ORES FOR IRON SINCE TURN OF CENTURY.

Comment (Geology): GEOL.DESC: DEPOSIT IS IN THE FORM OF LENSES AT THE CONTACT OF GRANODIORITE AND A METAMORPHIC SERIES OF PROBABLY PALEOZOIC AGE. ORE MINERALS WERE MAGNETITE AND HEMATITE CONTAINING FROM 40 TO 65 PERCENT IRON
