Comment (Geology): GEOL.DESC: LENSES OF MANGANIFEROUS META CHERT RECRYSTALLIZED TO A FINE TO COARSE GRAINED GRAY AND WHITE QUARTZITE. QUARTZ VEINS CUT THE META CHERT WHICH IS INTERBEDDED WITH QUARTZ MICA SCHISTS. THE QUARTZITE AND SCHISTS ARE ENCLOSED IN DIKES OF GRANITE, AND STRIKE N 20 TO 40 W. AND DIP 35 TO 50 S. W. THE METACHERT CONTAINS SPESSARTITE AND RHODONITE SCATTERED AMONG QUARTZ GRAINS, AND TEND TO BE STAINED WITH MANGANESE OXIDES.
