Comment (Geology): GEOL.DESC: NUMEROUS LARGE FRAGMENTS OF MANGANIFEROUS CHERT ARE FOUND AT THE EDGE OF A LANDSLIDE BENCH ON THE STEEP W. WALL OF GRIDER CREEK CANYON. CHERT BELT CAN BE TRACED FOR 1/2 MI. ALONG THE NORTH STRIKE. BANDED RHODONITE QUARTZ ROCK IS FOUND IN PLACE AT S. END. REMAINDER OF ORE IS PURPLISH CHERT, METAMORPHOSED TO QUARTZITE. ASSOCIATED ROCKS ARE DIORITE, GABBRO, HORNBLENDITE AND SERPENTINE, OCCURRING AS LANDSLIDE FLOAT.
