Mine Info
Satelite View
MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comment (Location): LOCATED IN W 1/2 SECTION 8
Comment (Geology): GEOL.DESC: NICKEL-BEARING LATERITIC MANTLE IS FOUND ON TOPS OF SERPENTINE HILLS, WHICH FOLLOWS CONTOURS OF PRESENT TOPOGRAPHY. MANTLE CAN BE DIVIDED INTO 2 ZONES WHICH GRADE INTO ONE ANOTHER: (1) SILICIFIED ZONE, AND (2) THE MAGNESITE ZONE. GARNIERITE AND CHRYSOPRASE ARE MAIN NICKEL MINERALS FOUND AT BASE OF LATERITIC MANTLE AS VEINS IN FRACTURED SERPENTINE OR CONTAINED WITHIN BOXWORK OF SILICIFIED ZONE SERPENTINE SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN DERIVED FROM PERIDOTITE AND PYROXENITE. BASE OF MANTLE HAS AVERAGE ELEVATION OF 1050 FT. RANGE OF THICKNESS IS 20 TO 100 FT., AVERAGING 50 FT.
