Comments

Comment (Geology): GEOL.DESC: N. PART OF VENICE HILLS IS UNDERLAIN BY ALTERED SERPENTINITE WHICH IS CAPPED BY RESIDUAL JASPEROID AND SILICA BOXWORK. BENEATH CAPPING IS EXTENSIVE ZONE OF LATERITE WHOSE THICKNESS RANGES FROM FEW TENS OF FT. TO AS MUCH AS 100 FT. METAVOLCANIC ROCKS AND MINOR METACHERT COMPRISE 5 , PART OF VENICE HILLS. VEINS OF CHRYSOPRASE AND GARNIERITE OCCUR IN SILICEOUS CAPPING, AND GARNIERITE WAS FOUND TO BE WIDELY DISTRIBUTED THROUGHOUT ALTERED (LATERITIZED) SERPENTINITE. GARNIERITE VEINS RANGE IN THICKNESS FROM FRACTURE FILLINGS TO TWO INCHES.

Comment (Deposit): GEM QUALITY CHRYSOPRASE OBTAINED FROM ALTERED SERPENTINITE IN AREA, IN EARLY 1900'S. GARNIERITE IN ASSOCIATION WITH CHRYSOPRASE DISCOVERED IN MIDDLE 1950'S
