Comment (Deposit): ADJACENT PROPERTY IS THE SITE OF THE ALPINE MILL WHICH WAS KNOWN AS THE LOUFECK MILL IN PRIOR YEARS. IN JULY OF 1953 , 50 TO 75 TONS WERE BEING HANDLED BY ROD MILLING CLOSED CIRCUIT WITH A SCREEN. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT
Comment (Workings): MINE WORKINGS DID CONSIST OF FOUR SHALLOW SHAFTS , A SHORT ADIT AND NUMEROUS PITS AND TRENCHES. NOW THE AREA OF SHAFTS AND ADIT HAS BEEN OPEN PITTED AND CONSISTS OF A N80W TRENDING PIT ABOUT 200 FT. BY 40 FT. BY 30 FT. DEEP.
Comment (Geology): LIMESTONE INTERBEDDED WITH HORNFELS; FELSITE DIKES INTRUDE THE SECTION WHICH INCLUDES LIMESTONE WITH SKARN, AND QUARTZ CHLORITE PHYLLITE. LOCALLY IRON-STAINED SMOKEY-GRAY QUARTZ VEINS ARE ASSOCIATED WITH THE SKARN. THE FELSITE DIKES ARE ASSUMED TO BE RELATED TO THE SAME QUARTZ MONZONITE PORPHYRY AT THE ALPINE/GARDNERVILLE MINE TO THE SOUTH. QUARTZ MONZONITE WITH ABUNDANT STOCKWORK VEINING CROPS OUT IMMEDIATEDLY SOUTH OF THE CHEROKEE MINE PIT.
Comment (Development): WORKED BRIEFLY BTWN 1943-44 BY CARSON VALLEY TUNGSTEN OPERATIONS, AND AGAIN BTWN 1954-56 BY SEVERAL OPERATORS.
Comment (Location): 1/2 MI. NORTH OF GARDNERVILLE MINE
Comment (Production): COMBINED PRODUCTION WORTH 25,013 DOLLARS
