Comments

Comment (Location): ACCURATE LOCATION IS FOR THE MAIN SHAFT. DEPOSIT IS IN CARSON NATIONAL FOREST.

Comment (Commodity): OCCURRENCE OF PLATINUM OR PLATINUM GROUP METALS IN ASSAYS OF ORE FROM THE TAMPA MINE HAS BEEN REPORTED BUT IS UNVERIFIED. LINDGREN AND OTHERS, P. 132, REPORTED THAT COPPER ORE FROM THE TAMPA MINE WAS TESTED FOR PLATINUM BY LEDOUX AND CO., OF NEW YORK, BUT NONE WAS FOUND.

Comment (Production): TWO CARLOADS AT $15/TON AT GRADES OF 0.125 OZ/TON AU, 6 OZ/TON AG, AND THE REST CU

Comment (Workings): WORKINGS REPORTED IN 1910 CONSISTED OF A 400 FT VERTICAL SHAFT WITH ABOUT 1,000 FT OF DRIFTING ON FIVE LEVELS. THERE WERE WATER PROBLEMS BELOW THE 300 FT LEVEL.

Comment (Geology): GREENSCHIST IS PRESENT NEARBY AND TERTIARY CONGLOMERATE, SANDSTONE, AND BASALT ARE ASSOCIATED WITH THE DEPOSIT

Comment (Deposit): DEPOSIT CONSISTS OF SULFIDE REPLACEMENTS AND QUARTZ VEINS. OXIDIZED ORE IS GOOD BUT SULFIDE ORE IS TOO LOW GRADE TO BE MINED PROFITABLY

Comment (Deposit): Discovery Year: 1880'S
