Comments

Comment (Geology): BARITE OCCURS AS VEINLETS, ISOLATED PODS, AND MASSES REPLACING THE LIMESTONE. SMALL GRAINS AND CRYSTALS OF CINNABAR OCCURS ERRATICALLY IN BARITE VEINS AND ALONG THIN SEAMS IN THE FRACTURED LIMESTONE ADJOINING THE FAULT. STIBNITE OCCURS AS SPORADIC PODS ALONG THE FAULT. THE STIBNITE AND SOME OF CINNABAR WERE DEPOSITED EARLIER THAN THE BARITE. SOME OF THE CINNABAR IS YOUNGER THAN THE STIBNITE. ; GEOL.DESC: NE TRENDING FAULT ZONES

Comment (Location): UNSURVEYED SECTIONS

Comment (Reserve-Resource): RESERVES MAY BE 2000 TONS OF 8 LB/TON ORE

Comment (Deposit): SOME CINNABAR IS YOUNGER THAN THE STIBNITE. IN PLACES, THE CINNABAR FORMS BLEBS AND VEINLETS AS MUCH AS 0.25 INCH THICK IN BARITE LENSES 1-3 FT THICK, AND L-OCALLY IT IS ACCOMPANIED BY STIBNITE AND SB OXIDES. IN SOME PL-ACES THE ORE IS VERY RICH AND MAY CONTAIN SEVERAL PERCENT HG, -BUT SUCH PLACES HAVE BEEN SO SMALL AND SO ERRATICALLY DISTRIBU-TED THAT EXPLORATION IN THIS AREA OF SCANT EXPOSURE HAS BEEN D-IFFICULT.

Comment (Workings): CUTS, ADIT, PITS. SEVERAL LONG BULLDOZER CUTS WHICH HAVE BEEN ENLARGED TO SMALL OPEN CUTS WHERE SIGNS OF MINERALIZATION WERE ENCOU-NTERED. ALSO, SOME CHURN DRILL HOLES HAVE BEEN PUT DOWN, NOTAB-LY ON THE CAIN CLAIMS

Comment (Deposit): CLAIMS LOCATED IN 1956. IDLE SINCE 1958. DEVELOPMENT INCLUDES EXTENSIVE BULLDOZER CUTS, A SHORT ADIT, AND NUMEROUS SHALLOW TEST PITS. MINE IS IN THE LOWER PLATE OF THE MT. TOBIN THRUST FAULT. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT; 3 FIELD OBSERV

Comment (Development): IDLE SINCE 195810 CLAIMS LEASED SOON AFTER STAKING IN 1956 TO HUMBOLDT METALS, A PARTNERSHIP ARRANGED BY R. R. WHITING. EXPLORATI-ON DONE IN 1957 WAS NOT PRODUCTIVE AND THE LEASE WAS DROPPED. -FROM 1963 TO 1972 ADDITIONAL EXPLORATION BY BULLDOZING, DRILLI-NG, AND GEOCHEMICAL SAMPLING WAS DONE BY THE OWNERS AND AT LEA-ST TWO GROUPS OF LESSEES, BUT WITH THE DEPRESSED PRICE OF MERC-URY, THE TITLE WAS APPARENTLY ALLOWED TO LAPSE AFTER 1973. IN -1974, PART OF THE GROUND WAS STAKED AS THE VALLEY VIEW CLAIM B-Y ED HAGER. IN 1978, AN EASTERN SECTOR WAS RELOCATED BY THE CH-EMICAL AND PETROLEUM CORP AS THE BONETTA CLAIM, AND A WESTERN -PART BY HOUSTON OIL AND MINERALS CORP AS THE CAIN GROUP.

Comment (Production): IDLE SINCE 1958
