MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Location): UNSURVEYED SECTION
Comment (Reserve-Resource): VERY SMALL RESERVES (1943)
Comment (Development): 9 CLAIMS LOCATED IN 1941 AND EXPLORED IN 1942. NO PRODUCTION UNTIL1956.FOLLOWING DICOVERY OF HG MINERALS HERE IN 1940, COSS, DAN WOOTAN AND VERNON BELL IN 1942 EXPLORED THE PROPERTY BY -SHORT ADITS AND SURFACE CUTS BUT FAILED TO FIND ENOUGH ORE TO -JUSTIFY BUILDING A RETORT. THE AREA WAS RELOCATED AS THE JOE G-ROUP IN 1956 BY RENE AMAT. HE SOON LEASED THE GROUND TO HUMBOL-DT METALS, MANAGED BY R. R. WHITING WHO DID ONLY A LITTLE ADDI-TIONAL EXPLORATION AND RECOVERED ONLY 2 FLASKS OF MERCURY. IN -1961, A LESSEE REPORTED A PRODUCTION OF ONE FLASK, AND ALTHOUG-SOME EXPLORATION TRENCHING, DRILLING, AND UNDER GROUND WORK WA-S DONE UP UNTIL 1972, NO FURTHER PRODUCTION WAS RECORDED. ASSE-SSMENT WORK WAS DONE FOR RENE AND FERN AMAT IN 1973.
Comment (Deposit): DISSEMINATED CRYSTALS AND SMALL STRINGER OF CINNABAR OCCUR IN CALCITE VEINLETS IN BRECCIA ZONES IN LIMESTONE AND Q-UARTZITE ALONG FAULTS OF SMALL DISPLACEMENT. THE MINERALIZATIO-N IS SPREAD OVER A WIDE AREA AND LOCALLY FORMS RETORT-GRADE OR-E, BUT THE ORE SO FAR DISCOVERED HAS LACKED CONTINUITY.
Comment (Workings): IN 1956, DEVELOPMENT CONSISTED OF A 75-FT OPEN CUT WITH A SHALLOW SHAFT IN ONE END, A 50-FT OPEN CUT AND SHORT ADI-T ABOUT 2000 FT WEST OF THE SHAFT, AND SMALL CUTS AND BULLDOZE-R TRENCHES FARTHER WEST.
Comment (Geology): ROCKS IN AREA CUT BY CALCITE VEINS AND BY FAULTS OF SMALL DISPLACEMENT ALONG ZONES OF BRECCIATION.
