The Wildcat Mine is a gold and silver mine located in Pershing county, Nevada.
About the MRDS Data:
All mine locations were obtained from the USGS Mineral Resources Data System. The locations and other information in this database have not been verified for accuracy. It should be assumed that all mines are on private property.
Mine Info
Satelite View
MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Geology): ORE DEPOSITS OCCUR IN A NETWORK OF VEINS & VEINLETS PARALLELING DIKES AND FISSURES IN RHYOLITES. THEY HAVE A GENERAL N-S TREND BUT THE VEIN SYSTEM IS CROSSED BY FAULTS AND CROSS STRINGERS. VEINS CONSIST OF SOFT CRUSHED MATERIAL, ZONES OF BRECCIATION FILLED WITH QUARTZ.
Comment (Deposit): WORKINGS AT THE WILDCAT SHAFT (UPPER) EXPOSE N55E, 80 NW SHEAR ZONE WHICH CUTS HIGHLY KAOLINIZED RHYOLITE. RHYOLIT-IC BRECCIAS OUTCROP TO EAST OF MINE AREA. BRECCIAS EXPOSED ON -PEAKS AND RIDGES TO THE EAST RESEMBLE FLOW BRECCIAS RATHER THA-N INTRUSIVE OR HYDROTHERMAL BRECCIAS; ALL ARE, HOWEVER, SILICI-FIED. IN OUTCROP THE BRECCIAS FORM ELONGATE RIDGES PARALLEL TO- SILICIFIED SHEAR ZONES. PODS OF WHITE CHALCEDONIC QUARTZ ARE -SEEN IN SOME BRECCIAS. VEIN MATERIAL AT THE WILDCAT DUMP CONTA-INS DARK BANDS OF FINE-GRAINED SULFIDES AND SOME FREE GOLD, TH-E VEIN BEING COMPOSED OF BRECCIATED CHALLEDONIC QUARTZ CEMENTE-D BY SILICA. SE OF THE WILDCAT SHAFT,AT SAMPLE SITE 1482, OLD -WORKINGS EXPOSE A N30W, 75NE SHEAR ZONE IN ALTERED GRANODIORIT-E WALLROCK LACED WITH RANDOMLY ORIENTED FE-OXIDE STAINED FRACT-URES; ROCK IS KAOLINIZED. FLOW ROCK SEEN AT UPPER WILDCAT SHAF-T OVERLIES THE GRANODIORITE (OR THE RHYOLITE MAY BE PLUGS CUTT-ING GRANODIORITE. SAMPLE 2810 WAS FROM AN ADIT AND DUMP IN THE-
Comment (Deposit): UPPER RHYOLITE BRECCIA. SAMPLE 2811 WAS FROM A DUMP NEAR A SH-AFT ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN. SAMPLE 2812 WAS FROM AD-ITS COLLARED IN GRANODIORITE, BUT NEAR THE CONTACT WITH THE OV-ERLYING RHYOLITE. THIS LAST SAMPLE HAD SOME CHERTIFIED CONTACT-MATERIAL WITH WISPY LENSES OF FREE GOLD IN A MATRIX OF SILVER -SULFIDES, ETC..
Comment (Workings): SEVERAL SHAFTS, ADITS, CUTS, MILL FOUNDATIONS, PROSPECTS SCATTERED OVER SEVERAL SQUARE MILES
Comment (Location): UTM GIVEN IS THAT FOR SAMPLE SITES 1484 AND 2811 AT ONE CENTRALLY LOCATED SHAFT AMID THE MANY WORKINGS SCATTERED O-VER A 500 M RADIUS. GOOD ACCESS BY NEWLY DOZED ROAD.
Comment (Production): ONE SHIPMENT AVERAGED 0.655 OZ AU/TON AND 4.05 OZ AG
Comment (Development): CLAIM NOTICES DATED 1982. IN SEPT 1984, AREA WAS BEING DRILLED BY TOUCHSTONE RESOURCES WITH NEW ROADS AND DRILL PA-DS ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN. HOMESTAKE MINING CO- HOLDS THE GROUND BUT IS LEASING IT TO TOUCHSTONE OF SALT LAKE- CITY.
