MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comment (Deposit): Discovery Year: 1906, 1908
Comment (Deposit): THE COPPER KING CLAIMS WERE ORIGINALLY LOCATED FOR COPPER IN 1906 & 1908. THERE IS NO RECORD OF ANY COPPER PRODUCTION DURING THIS PERIOD. IN 1949 E.J. BOTTOMLEY ACQUIRED THE PROPERTY. IN 1952 THE PROPERTY WAS OPTIONED TO THE CORDERO MINING CORP. WHICH SHIPPED 750 TONS OF TUNGSTEN ORE RECOVERING 614 TUNGSTEN TON UNITS. AFTER THIS SEVERAL LESSEES WORKED THE PROPERTY ON A SMALL SCALE. WALLACE & DURBIN SHIPPED 193 TONS OF 0.22% WO3 IN 1956, PRODUCING 1,216 LBS OF TUNGSTEN. PROPERTY WAS IDLE 1956 TO 1968 WHEN THE PROPERTY WAS EXAMINED BY NEVADA COPPER & TUNGSTEN, INC. EXPLORATION STUDIES HAVE BEEN DONE UP TO THE PRESENT, BUT NO MINING ACTIVITY. PROPERTY IS DEVELOPED BY 3 SHAFTS 50-250 FT. DEEP, 2 PITS 6-8 FEET DEEP, 4 TRENCHES 40-50 FT. LONG, AND 3 SHALLOW TRENCHES. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT; 3 FIELD OBSERV

Comment (Production): OVER 614 TUNGSTEN TON UNITS. WALLACE AND DURBIN SHIPPED 193 TONS OF 0.22% WO3 IN 1956, PRODUCING 1,216 LB. TUNGSTEN.
Comment (Development): EXPLORED RECENTLY WITH NO MINING ACTIVITY (1970'S). UTAH INTERNATIONAL WAS STUDYING AND DRILLING THE PROPERTY IN 1979-1980 TO DETERMINE OREBODY EXTENT . US VANADIUM EXPLORED THE PROPERTY IN 1944 BUT SOON ABANDONED IT
Comment (Geology): MINERALIZATION IN THE AREA CONSISTS OF SCHEELITE AND MINOR POWELLITE IN TACTITE AREAS NEAR LIMESTONE GRANODIORITE CONTACTS, AND COPPER IN SHEAR ZONES WHICH APPEAR TO CUT THE TACTITES. FOUR TACTITE ZONES, OF BOTH CONTACT AND STRATABOUND TYPES, HAVE BEEN OUTLINED AT COPPER KING. SCHEELITE IN THE VARIOUS TACTITE ZONES IS ERRATICALLY DISTRIBUTED, GENERALLY AS IRREGULAR LENSES AND PODS. ANOMALOUS AMOUNTS OF IRON (PYRITE), COPPER (CHALCOPYRITE, CHALCOCITE, MALACHITE) AND MOLYBDENUM (MOLYBDENITE) ARE FOUND WITHIN THE GRANODIORITE INTRUSIVE. IT SEEMS LIKELY THIS DISSEMINATED IRON-COPPER-MOLYBDENUM TYPE MINERALIZATION IS BOTH GENETICALLY AND SPACIALLY RELATED TO TACTITE DEVELOPMENT. THERE IS A POSSIBILITY FOR RECOVERY OF MINOR BYPRODUCT COPPER AND MOLYBDENUM SULFIDES FROM TACTITE BODIES MINED FOR TUNGSTEN.
Comment (Workings): 3 SHAFTS, PITS, TRENCHES. OLD 2-COMPARTMENT VERTICAL SHAFT ABOUT 60 FT DEEP AT SAMPLE SITE 2992; COPPER KING SHAFT AT SAMPLE SITE 2993.
Comment (Deposit): SHEAR ZONES, CONTACT TACTITE ZONES. AT SAMPLE SITE 2992, DUMP COMPOSED OF MASSIVE GARNET SKARN, STAINED WITH CHRYSOCOLLA, GREEN CU OXIDES, SOME MN O-XIDE, CLOTS OF FE OX AND CU OX GOSSAN (MELACONITE). SOME ALTER-ED APLITIC INTRUSIVE ON DUMP WITH LIMONITE POINTS. CU OX AND F-E-MN OX COATING LARGE BLOCKS, CRYSTALLINE CALCITE, PATCHES OF -APLITE, MARBLE, SKARN EXPOSED AROUND SHAFT IN WASH AND SEVERAL-SHALLOW TRENCHES. GARNET APPEARS TO BE A POD-LIKE BODY OR LENS- ALONG IRREGULAR CONTACT; AREA COVERED BY THIN PEDIMENT GRAVEL-S- HARD TO SEE TRENDS. GRANODIORITE TO S AND SW, LIMESTONE AND- MARBLE TO N AND NW. COPPER KING SHAFT (SITE 2993) IS SUNK ON -GARNET SKARN WHERE IT IS CUT BY N60E, 70 NW-DIPPING SHEAR ZONE- ABOUT 4-5 FT WIDE, GOSSANY WITH FE OX AND CU OX ALONG IT; GAR-NET ZONE EXTENDS ABOUT 100 FT TO OPEN PIT TO EAST (1985). . THE URANIUM OCCURRENCE IS LOCATED APPROXIMATELY 0.25 MILES NE OF THE MINE BUILDING AND MAJOR WORKINGS OF THE COP-PER KING MINE. THERE IS ANOMALOUS
Comment (Deposit): SCINTILLOMETER COUNT BUT NO -VISIBLE URANIUM IS PRESENT IN LIME GARNET SKARN IN A SMALL PIT-. THE HIGHEST RADIATION IS IN A POD IN COARSE CRYSTALLINE MARB-LE ADJACENT TO THE HIGHEST CONCENTRATION OF GREEN GARNET.
