Victory Prospect

The Victory Prospect is a manganese mine located in Pershing county, Nevada at an elevation of 4,600 feet.

About the MRDS Data:

All mine locations were obtained from the USGS Mineral Resources Data System. The locations and other information in this database have not been verified for accuracy. It should be assumed that all mines are on private property.

Satelite View

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Land Status

Land ownership: Private
Note: the land ownership field only identifies whether the area the mine is in is generally on public lands like Forest Service or BLM land, or if it is in an area that is generally private property. It does not definitively identify property status, nor does it indicate claim status or whether an area is open to prospecting. Always respect private property.

Analytical Data

Analytical Data: ORE ASSAYED 8.4% MN, 0.24% W. SAMPLE 2348, A GRAB SAMPLE OF CHALCEDONIC AND CALCITE VEIN MATTER AND MN OXIDES, CONTAINS 20 % FE, 0.15 % MG, 20- % CA, 0.01 % TI, +5000 PPM MN, 1.5 PPM AG, 2000 PPM AS, 50 PP-M B, +5000 PPM BA, 10 PPM BE, 10 PPM CR, 30 PPM CU, 15 PPM MO,- 5 PPM NI, 50 PPM PB, 300 PPM SB, 30 PPM SN, 1000 PPM SR, 200 -PPM V. 50 PPM W. THE MN OXIDES CONTAIN CHEMICALLY COMBINED W A-ND THE HIGHEST GRADE MATERIAL CONTAINS 18.6 % MN AND 0.88 % WO-3. W CONTENT INCREASES WITH MN CONTENT, BUT THE DEPOSIT HAS NO-T BEEN MINED FOR EITHER METAL BECAUSE THE MATERIAL IS NOT AMEN-ABLE TO CONCENTRATION EXCEPT BY EXPENSIVE CHEMICAL PROCESSES.

Comments

Comment (Location): NEAR N EDGE OF THE EAST RANGE

Comment (Development): PROPERTY WAS NOT ACTIVE WHEN EXAMINED IS 1984, BUT IT HAD EVIDENCE OF RECENT GEOCHEMICAL SAMPLING.

Comment (Deposit): W-BEARING BLACK MN OXIDES OCCUR WITH BLACK CALCITE IN A CALCITE AND CHALCEDONIC SILICA VEIN WHICH MAY BE UP TO 15--20 M WIDE. THIS N-S TRENDING ZONE BOUNDS THE RANGEFRONT OUTCRO-PS AND IS PROBABLY A HIGH-ANGLE NORMAL FAULT ZONE WHERE REPEAT-ED OPENING UNDER EXTENSION WOULD ALLOW SUCH A WIDE FISSURE VEI-N. (SOME WHITE CALCITE BANDS WITHIN THE BLACK CALCITE, HOWEVER-, SUGGEST A 45 E DIP WHICH NOT BE A NORMAL FAULT)

Comment (Workings): SHORT ADIT, SHALLOW SHAFT, AND SEVERAL PROSPECT PITS

Comment (Geology): MNMINERALS INTIMATELY ASSOCIATED WITH CALCITE, AND W THOUGHT TO BE CHEMICALLY COMBINED WITH THE MN OXIDES, MAKING RECOVERY OF BOTH METALS DIFFICULT. PROSPECT EXPLORES A CALCITE VEIN CONTAINING NARROW BANDS OF SLATE, SHALE, AND LIMESTONE IMPREGNATED WITH THE MN OXIDES. THE COMPOSITE VEIN CONSISTS OF BANDS OF GRAY TO PINKISH CHALCEDONY, BLACK (WITH A FEW WHITE BANDS) CALCITE, AND -ALTERED FAULT BRECCIA FRAGMENTS OF ARGILLITE. THE ARGILLITE FR-AGMENTS ARE SILICIFIED AND/OR KAOLINIZED. NUMEROUS QUARTZ-AFTE-R LAMELLAR-CALCITE AND SIMILAR REPLACEMENT TEXTURES IN THE CHA-LCEDONY SUGGEST SILICA REPLACEMENT OF CALCITE WITHIN THE VEIN.- CRUSTIFORM TEXTURES IN THE CHALCEDONIC MATTER ARE RARE. CRYST-ALS OF BLACK CALCITE UP TO SEVERAL CM IN DIAMETER OCCUR IN A M-ATRIX OF FINER CALCITE AND WHITE CHALCEDONY. THE HIGH-ANGLE (N-EAR-VERTICAL) NATURE OF THE CALCITE VEIN ZONE CAN BE SEEN JUST- N OF THE ROAD TO THE RADIO FACILITY, 0.5 KM N OF THE SAMPLED -LOCALITY.
