Mine Info
Satelite View
MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comment (Production): $112,000 WORTH OF AU & AG PRODUCED, 1908-1910
Comment (Development): NO ACTIVITY AT TIME OF EXAMINATION IN 1984.
Comment (Deposit): AT THE MINE SAMPLED, WHITE SACCHAROIDAL QUARTZ VEIN MATTER OCCURS IN REPORTED SHEAR ZONES IN FELSIC VOLCANIC AND V-OLCANICLASTIC ROCKS. VEIN QUARTZ HAS SPARSE SPOTTY SULFIDES AN-D IS OFTEN SLIGHTLY IRON-STAINED. LOCALLY PYRITE-RICH PIECES O-F VEIN MATTER ARE ALSO NOTED. THE WORKINGS ON THE TOPO MAP OCC-UR ALONG A N45E ZONE ABOUT 1.5 KM LONG WITH THE MONROE MINE AT- THE SOUTH END AND THE BLACK HOLE MINE AT THE NORTH.; MODEL NAME COULD ALSO BE: POLYMETALLIC VEINS.
Comment (Workings): 4 TUNNELS, DRIFTS. NUMEROUS ADITS, MANY WITH CAVED OR PARTLY CAVED PORTALS (1984). AN OLD MILL FOUNDATION (SMALL) WITH SMALL AMOUNT- OF TAILINGS. THERE IS A LARGER MILL FOUNDATION IN THE CANYON -BELOW THE MAIN MINES.
Comment (Geology): SULFIDES OCCUR IN PERSISTENT 2-8 FT. WIDE AND 4000 FT. LONG QUARTZ VEIN. HOST ROCK CUT BY DIABASE DIKES.
Comment (Deposit): MINE IS OPENED BY 4 MAIN TUNNELS FROM WHICH DRIFTS HAVE BEEN DRIVEN ON THE VEIN. TOTAL UNDERGROUND WORKINGS COMPRISE 5,000 FT. THE BLACK HOLE CLAIM IS AT THE NORTH END, THE MONROE CLAIM AT THE SOUTH END. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT; 3 FIELD OBSERV
