Mine Info
Satelite View
MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Location): WASHOKE CANYON
Comment (Development): NO ACTIVITY AT TIME OF EXAMINATION IN 1984.
Comment (Deposit): WORKINGS ARE ALONG A NW ZONE OF FAULTING AND IRON-STAINING ABOUT 100 M LONG, 0.5-2 M WIDE. IN THIS ZONE, GRANITIC WALLROCK IS BLEACHED, IRON-STAINED AND CUT BY NARROW SHEARS. ZONE CONTAINS RARE QUARTZ VEIN MATERIAL. WALLROCK OUTSIDE THE ZONE IS UNALTERED OR SLIGHTLY CHLORITIZED. A SINGLE INCLINED SHAFT IS ON A VERY SIMILAR ZONE 200 M UP THE CANYON (NE) FROM THE MAIN WORKINGS. THIS ZONE HAS AN ATTITUDE OF N30W, 75 NE. THE SHALLOW NATURE OF THE ORE SUGGESTS THAT SOME FREE-MILLING GOLD WAS FOUND IN THE ZONE.
Comment (Workings): SHAFT, DRIFTS; A NUMBER OF SHALLOW STOPES TO THE SURFACE AND INCLINED SHAFTS. AT LEAST 2 DRILL HOLES (ANGLE HOLES), FOUNDATION TO AN OLD MILL, VERY SMALL TAILINGS PILE AND DUMPS.
Comment (Geology): OXIDIZED AND SULFIDE ORES WITH SILICEOUS GANGUE WERE FOUND.
Comment (Deposit): WORKED IN 1911. DEVELOPED BY A VERTICAL SHAFT 60 FT. DEEP AND 20 FT. OF DRIFTS. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT; 3 FIELD OBSERV
