Mine Info
Satelite View
MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comment (Location): PREVIOUS QUAD DESIGNATION = DESERT PEAK (1951) 1:625000
Comment (Deposit): NARROW STOPES FOLLOW SHEAR ZONE IN SHEETED, ALTERED DIORITE. BRECCIATED QUARTZ VEIN FOLLOWS SHEAR ZONE; LOTS OF CU- OX AND FE OX ALONG ZONE AND VEIN.
Comment (Workings): INCLINED SHAFT, NARROW STOPES ON VEIN; VERTICAL SHAFT TO EAST
Comment (Geology): MINE IS DEVELOPED BY A VERTICAL SHAFT AND INCLINED SHAFT ON A QUARTZ VEIN THAT STRIKES N 15 DEG W AND DIPS 28 DEG - 40 DEG NE. IT IS A SINGLE VEIN OF VARIABLE WIDTH AND ABOUT A FOOT THICK IN THE ACCESSIBLE WORKINGS. THE VEIN IN THE WALL OF THE INCLINED SHAFT CONTAINED 20 PPM SILVER AND 0.05 PPM GOLD. DUMP QUARTZ CONTAINED 50 PPM SILVER AND 4.5 PPM GOLD. (WILLDEN AND SPEED, P 67) BASIN AROUND MINE DISPLAYS MOTTLED RED AND GREEN ALTERATION (HEMATITE AND CHLORITE). EASTERN SHAFT HAS GREEN ALTE-RED METAVOLCANICS ON DUMP.
