Comments

Comment (Deposit): ON THE MONTE CRISTO CLAIM THERE IS A BOLD OUTCROP OF NEARLY BARREN REDDISH VEIN QUARTZ. AN INCLINED SHAFT SUNK ON THIS VEIN ENCOUNTED FAVORABLE ORE, AND BETWEEN 1879 AND 1890 A PRODUCTION OF 9726 TONS YIELDING $9.80/TON WAS RECORDED. IN 1913 AND 1914 THE MINE WAS OPERATED AS THE COMSTOCK MONTE CRISTO MINING COMPANY, TRANSPORTING THE ORE OVER AN AERIAL TRAMWAY TO THE MELLCAN MILL. A TOTAL OF OVER 50,000 TONS WAS REPORTED AS PRODUCED. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT
