Comment (Deposit): IN THE 1860'S A 900-FT TUNNEL WAS DRIVEN INT HE OCCIDENTAL CLAIM. A FAIRLY LARGE TONNAGE OF ORE WAS STOPED FROM ABOVE THIS TUNNEL AND FROM WINZES. IN 1870 A TUNNEL 400 FEET LOWER ENCOUNTERED ORE, BUT THIS LOWER DEPTH YIELDED LITTLE ORE. THERE WAS REPORTED FROM 1866 TO 1894 A PRODUCTION OF $400,000 FROM NEARLY 40,000 TONS OF ORE. SINCE THAT TIME LEASERS HAVE WORKED THE MINE. TOTAL PRODUCTION 1868-1894 WAS 25798 TONS ORE AVERAGING $17.08 PER TON ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT
