Comments
Comment (Development): LISTED AS AN ACTIVE OPEN PIT GOLD MINE AND MILL (1985). NO ACTIVITY OBSERVED AT TIME OF EXAMINATION IN 1984.
Comment (Deposit): BULLDOZER CUTS EXPLORE SPOTTY VEIN QUARTZ IN OLIVE PHYLLITE AND HORNFELS. QUARTZ VEIN MATTER IN SEVERAL 4-15 CM VEINS OF IRREGULAR THICKNESS AND VARIABLE QUARTZ CONTENT. VEINS EXAMINED IN ONE PIT TREND N70E, 55NW, AND ARE PARALLEL TO FOLIATION IN ROCKS, WHICH ARE LOCALLY HIGHLY SHEARED. LIMONITE BOXWORKS OCCUR AS CLOTS AND FRACTURE SURFACES ARE SLIGHTLY STAINED WITH MN OXIDES. FREE GOLD, AS FLAKES UP TO 2 MM IN DIAMETER, OCCURS ON TERMINATED QUARTZ CRYSTALS IN VUGS, (SAMPLE IN COLLECTION OF H.F. BONHAM). SUPERGENE FACTORS MAY BE IMPORTANT IN THE CONCENTRATION OF THIS GOLD.
Comment (Workings): INCLINED SHAFT, TRENCHES, PITS, BULLDOZER CUTS
Comment (Deposit): INCLINED SHAFT, TRENCHES, AND PITS DEVELOP MINERALIZED QUARTZITE BED FOR ABOUT 250 FEET ALONG STRIKE. FAULT PARALLELS 18 INCH THICK QUARTZITE BED INTERCALATED IN SLATE, BED STRIKES N73E, DIPS ABOUT 5M, AND CONTAINS WIRE GOLD ASSOCIATED WITH SMALL QUARTZ CRYSTALS. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT; 3 FIELD OBSERV
