Comment (Development): THIS AREA WAS DRILLED BY CALUMET AND HECLA CONSOLIDATED COPPER CO. IN 1946 (8 HOLES TO 245-610 M.DEEP),AND GOLD AND SILVER WERE FOUND IN QUARTZ VEINS. THE PROPERTY WAS OPTIONED TO ASARCO IN 1950 AND 1951, WHO DRILLED 4 MORE HOLES A FEW HUNDRED METERS NORTH OF KING TONOPAH SHAFT, BUT LATER RELINQUISHED THE PROPERTY. IT WAS OPTIONED TO HOMESTAKE AND SUMMIT KING MINES IN 1951, WHO REHABILITATED THE KING TONOPAH SHAFT, DROVE A CROSSCUT NORTH, AND ENCOUNTERED THE VEIN. WORK IN 1953-1954 BLOCKED OUT 15000-20000 TONS ORE AVERAGING 30 OZ/T AG, 0.3 OZ/TON AU. A SMALL AMOUNT OF ORE WAS PRODUCED IN 1958-1961. THE PROPERTY WAS SOLD IN 1969 TO SUMMA CORP., AND AGAIN TO HOUSTON OIL AND MINERALS IN 1977.
