Comment (Geology): THE PLACER GOLD IS FOUND ALONG THE BEDROCK IN GRAVELS 60-90 FEET THICK. THE DEEPER PARTS OF THE GRAVELS ARE CEMENTED IN PLACE. THE GOLD WAS PROBABLY DERIVED FROM VEINS NEAR THE LARGE MASS OF GRANODIORITE AT GRANITE MTN (JOHNSON).
Comment (Deposit): THE FIRST PLACER DISCOVERY IN THE DISTRICT, THE GRAVELS WERE FIRST WORKED IN 1907.
