Comments
Comment (Location): A HALF MILE NORTH OF BLACK DIABLO MINE AND ABOUT A QUARTER MILE SOUTH OF O'LEARY PROSPECT. LOCATED ON EAST SIDE OF SONOMA RANGE AND MARKED ON MAP AS 'OPEN PIT.' ACCESS BEST VIA PUMPERNICKEL VALLEY (1984). . INFO FROM LAND.ST :(1972); 1:24000 QUADRANGLE MAP IS A 1990 EDITION
Comment (Deposit): ORE OCCURS AS MASSIVE, TOUGH MANGANESE OXIDES THAT REPLACE SEDIMENTARY ROCK. INTERBEDDED WITH THE ORE ARE THIN BEDS OF SILICIFIED SHALE AND LENSES OF JASPER RICH IN HEMATITE. SECOND OUTCROP IS 400 FEET NORTH OF FIRST AND THIRD IS 600 FEET SOUTH OF CENTRAL OUTCROP.
Comment (Workings): SMALL OPEN PIT
Comment (Geology): THE ORE IS IN THE FORM OF AN ALTERED SEDIMENTARY LENS OUTCROPPING IN THREE PLACES IN SEDIMENTARY BEDS AT TOP OF A W-DIPPING QUARTZITE-CALCAREOUS SHALE SERIES LYING EAST OF THE CROPPING AND IN CONTACT ON THE WEST WITH A DIKE OF GRANODIORITE PORPHYRY WHICH EXHIBITS NO CONTACT METAMORPHISM. THE UPPER PART OF THE SEDIMENTARY SERIES CONSISTS MAINLY OF CHERT OR SILICIFIED CALCAREOUS SHALES WITH JASPER PROMINENT IN THE LOWER PART OF THIS SECTION. THE ORE HORIZON IS IN THE CHERT AND JASPER. IT IS COMPOSED OF FINELY DIVIDED SILICA AND MANGANESE OXIDES IN A MORE OR LESS DEFINITE BED.
Comment (Deposit): THIS RECORD HAS BEEN MERGED WITH M242601, WHICH HAS BEEN DELETED.
