Comments

Comment (Deposit): DEPOSITS ARE MINED FROM OPEN CUTS, AND UPON SORTING. THE MATERIAL YIELDS 1 TON ORE PER 4-5 TONS OF MATERIAL. THE SORTED ORE RUNS 45% MN, 10.5% S1O2, AND A LITTLE IRON. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 3 FIELD OBSERV

Comment (Geology): LENSLIKE BODIES OF PSILOMELANE AND PYROLUSITE ASSOC. WITH RHODONITE AND RHODOCHROSITE AS LARGE AS 25 FT. IN DIAMETER AND 2 FT. THICK. MANY OTHER LENSES OF OXIDIZED ORE OCCURRED WHICH WERE 10-25 FT. IN DIAMETER, AND 1-2 FT. THICK. UNOXIDIZED LENSES OF MANGANIFEROUS CHERT IN WHICH THE MANGANESE OCCURS AS RHODONITE FORM REPLACEMENT DEPOSITS IN SHALE AND QUARTZITE. THE LARGEST LENSES ARE 50 TO 75 FT. IN DIAMETER AND 6 TO 10 FT. THICK
