Comments

Comment (Deposit): ORE WAS SHIPPED IN 1908. THE MINE WAS WORKED MAINLY FROM 1905 TO 1911 WITH LATER REOPENINGS. SOME MINING WAS DONE ABOUT 1920. IN 1936 AND 1937 MUCH OF THE ACTIVITY OF THE AUSTIN SILVER MINING CO. WAS CONCENTRATED HERE AND SOME ORE WAS MILLED. THE MINE IS ONE OF THE FEW THAT CONTAINS ENOUGH GOLD TO BE OF COMMERCIAL INTEREST. THE RICHEST AVAILABLE ASSAY SHOWED 2.48 OUNCES OF GOLD AND 365 OUNCES OF SILVER TO THE TON.

Comment (Production): TOTAL VALUE GREATER THAN $100,000. RECORDS INDICATE A PRODUCTION, MAINLY IN 1911, OF 2,300 TONS OF ORE ASSAYING .3 OUNCE GOLD AND 29 OUNCES SILVER TO THE TON, AND 497 TONS OF ORE ASSAYING 1.12 OUNCES GOLD AND 112 OUNCES SILVER TO THE TON. PRODUCTION THROUGH 1937 IS ROUGHLY $100,000, ACCORDING TO ROSS. ACCORDING TO SCHMIDT, PRODUCTION WAS $82,000.

Comment (Deposit): THE LODES CONSIST OF A ZONE OF SHEARING, BRECCIATION, AND ALTERATION WITH LENSES OF VEIN QUARTZ AT INTERVALS BETWEEN THEM.

Comment (Location): CHOSE A POINT ALONG RANGE BOUNDARY

Comment (Workings): THE MINE HAS TWO VERTICAL SHAFTS; THE JACKPOT SHAFT WAS SUNK TO A LITTLE BELOW THE 400-FT LEVEL IN 1911. THE BUFFALO SHAFT EXTENDS ONLY TO THE 200-FT LEVEL.
