Mine Info
Satelite View
MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Location): N END WASSUK RANGE, OF SUMMIT NEAR E-WSPUR RISING ABOVE GRANITE SITE
Comment (Deposit): THREE SUB PARALLEL VEINS, A CONTINUATION OF THE VEIN AT MOUNTAIN VIEW MINE, RANGING FROM A FEW INCHES TO 4 FEET WIDE. THE CROPPINGS OF THE VEINS CONSIST OF IRON-STAINED QUARTZ, UNDERGROUND THEY ARE REPRESENTED BY FRACTURE ZONES, ALONG WHICH THE GRANODIORITE IS SERICITIZED FOR A WIDTH OF 1 TO 2 FEET. SMALL IRON-STAINED QUARTZ STRINGERS CUT THE ALTERED ROCK IN A FEW PLACES, SHOWING SOME MANGANESE STAIN.
Comment (Workings): SEVERAL INCLINED SHAFTS AND A LONG CROSSCUT TUNNEL THREE SHORT ADITS AND A SHAFT
Comment (Geology): GOLD OCCURS IN VEIN IN SMALL IRREGULAR POCKETS
Comment (Deposit): THE MINERALIZATION WAS REPORTED TO BE MAINLY ON THE SOUTHSIDE OF THE DIKE. THE VEIN FILLING WAS DESCRIBED AS A SOFT LIGHT PUMICE-LIKE QUARTZ CONTAINING A LITTLE SULPHUR THOUGHT TO BE A PRODUCT OF THE OXIDATION OF PYRITE.THE DUMPS ARE COVERED WITH PYRITE AND SULPHUR. THE OLD MILL APPEARS TO HAVE TREATED SOME OF THE ORE WHICH IS NOW WITHIN THE WALKER RIVER INDIAN RESERVATION. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT
