Comment (Deposit): 2 STRIPS OF THE VAN DUZER CREEK CHANNEL, 20-60 FT. WIDE MAD BEEN WORKED OUT BY 1908, ONE FOR A DISTANCE OF 1200 FT., ONE FOR 1000 FT., TO A DEPTH OF LESS. THAN 15 FEET. GOLD VARIED FROM FINE DUST TO 5-6 OZ NUGGETS. THE MINES WERE DISCIVERED BY R.M. WOODWARD IN 1893 AND WERE WORKED FOR ABOUT 15 YEARS, BUT WERE IDLE IN 1908 WOODWARD WORKED THE GRAVELS BY SLUICEING AND HYDRAULIC METHODS, REPORTEDLY RECOVERING $50,000 IN PLACER GOLD IN THE FIRST FEW YEARS. IN 1941, THE MORRISON-KNUDSEN CO. PREDGED GEN THE PLACER AREA FOR SEVERAL MILES RECOVERING 2128 OZ AU. SUBSEQUENT OPERATIONS BY DIFFERENT COMPANIES IN 1948 AND 1949 RECOVERED GOLD AVERAGING 33 TO 70 /CU. YD.
