MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Development): NO ACTIVITY AT TIME OF EXAMINATION IN SEPT., 1983, BUT SOME FAIRLY RECENT SURFACE EXPLORATION (ASSESSMENT WORK?) ON SLOPE NW OF SHAFT NEAR PROSPECTS
Comment (Location): INFO FROM LAND.ST :1972
Comment (Geology): QUARTZITE STRIKES N55W, DIP 25 NE. BEDDING AND FRACTURE SURFACES ARE COATED BY FE AND MN OXIDES AND QUARTZ CRYSTALS, FRACTURES GENERALLY OCCUR AT A HIGH ANGLE TO BEDDING. SOME BEDDING SURFACES SHOW SLICKENSIDES. SHALE OUTCROPS TO SOUTH
Comment (Deposit): MINERALIZED SHEAR ZONE FOLLOWED BY STOPE FOR 50 FT. SHEAR SURFACE IS WELL-DEFINED AND COATED BY ABUNDANT FE AND MN OXIDES. FRACTURE SETS ARE ALIGNED PARALLEL TO MAIN SHEAR, AND ALL PARALLEL A WELL-DEVELOPED JOINT SET IN THE HOST, INDICATING THAT FRACTURING PROBABLY PROVIDED A PRE-MINERAL ZONE OF WEAKNESS. DUMPROCK CONSISTS OF ALTERED AND MINERALIZED QUARTZITE, AND LESS ABUNDANT MASSIVE TO CRYSTALLINE WHITE QUARTZ VEIN MATERIAL WITH LARGE VUGS FILLED WITH PRISMATIC QUARTZ. CLOTS AND IRREGULAR LENSES OF PYRITE, CHALCOPYRITE, COVELLITE AND POSSIBLY GALENA AND TETRAHEDRITE OCCUR IN THE QUARTZITE WHICH ALSO SHOWS BOXWORKS AND FE AND MN STAINS. SULFIDES ARE FRESH INTERNALLY, BUT OXIDIZED NEAR THE WEATHERED SURFACE OF THE ROCKS. MALACHITE AND CHRYSOCOLLA ARE ABUNDANT ON SOME SAMPLES. YELLOW AND GREEN OXIDES COAT ROCKS ALSO.
Comment (Workings): INCLINED SHAFT WITH HEADFRAME AND STOPE ALONG SHEAR (FRACTURE) ZONE
