Comment (Production): SMALL PRODUCTION PRIOR TO 1908 MERGER CREDITED TO ST. IVES AND VELVET MINES, MOSTLY PRODUCED BY LESSEES IN 1904.

Comment (Development): IN JUNE 1908, ST. IVES, GOLD HORN, VELVET AND POTLATCH MINING COS. MERGED THEIR HOLDINGS. CALUMET AND HECLA CONSOLIDATED COPPER CO. IN 1935-1938 DISCOVERED A MODERATE-SIZED ORE BODY IN THE SHALLOW LEVELS OF THE MERGER

Comment (Deposit): ST. IVES LEDGE BRANCHES AND COALESCES. ORE BODIES WERE SMALL AND IRREGULAR.

Comment (Workings): IN 1905, ST. IVES WORKINGS CONSISTED OF A 250-FT VERTICAL SHAFT WITH LEVELS AT 50, 100, 150, AND 250 FT., CODD LEASE HAD A 500-FT SHAFT, WITH 100 FT OF STOPES ABOVE THE 50-FT LEVEL. VELVET MINE HAD THE 418-FT ALTA SHAFT AND THE 526-FT CHICAGO-VELVET SHAFT IN OPERATION IN 1908
