The Sorenson Fluorite Group is a tungsten and fluorine-fluorite mine located in Esmeralda county, Nevada at an elevation of 7,201 feet.
About the MRDS Data:
All mine locations were obtained from the USGS Mineral Resources Data System. The locations and other information in this database have not been verified for accuracy. It should be assumed that all mines are on private property.

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Geology): LENS OF METAMORPHOSED CALCAREOUS SEDIMENTS IS 300-500 FT WIDE, TRENDING NW FOR ABOUT 1000 FT. OR MORE. ALTERATION IS IRREGULAR; IN PLACES, LIMESTONE IS COMPLETELY REPLACED BY GARNET. WHERE THE ALTERATION IS INCOMPLETE, FORMATIONS ARE FRACTURED AND SEAMED WITH STRINGERS OF QUARTZ. SCHEELITE OCCURS IN THE QUARTZ SEAMS, IS SPARSELY DISSEMINATED IN THE SILICIFIED LIMESTONES AND OCCURS ONLY AS OCCASIONAL FLECKS IN THE GARNET.
Comment (Location): 5 CLAIMS IN CUCOMONGO GULCH. 1 MILE EAST (ON RD) OF CUCOMUNGO SPRING. CLAIMS ON TOP OF A DIVIDE. (EXACT LOCATION UNCERTAIN) ; INFO FROM LAND.ST :(1972)
Comment (Commodity): LIGHT GREENISH-GRAY FINE-GRAINED FLUORITE
Comment (Development): CLAIMS WERE MAINTAINED BY R.B. SORENSON FROM THEIR LOCATION IN 1939 UNTIL 1970 WHEN THEY LAPSED.
Comment (Deposit): SOME FLUORITE OCCURS IN TACTITE ALONG A CONTACT OF GRANITIC ROCKS WITH LIMESTONE. FLUORITE OCCURS IN A FRACTURE ZONE BETWEEN COMPLETELY GARNETIZED TACTITE AND PARTIALLY REPLACED LIMESTONE
Comment (Workings): 16-FT DEEP PIT PLUS OTHER PITS AND TRENCHES (AS OF 1945), AND DRIFTS (1970), SHALLOW SHAFTS.
