MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Deposit): EPITHERMAL FISSURE VEINS, CLAIMS COVER AN AREA OF 330.5 ACRES.. HAULAGE IS BEING DONE FROM AN INCLINE THAT CROSSCUTS TWO PARALLEL NE-TRENDING VEINS THAT ARE BEING EXPLORED AND DEVELOPED SIMULTANEOUSLY IN 2 DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS. THE FOOTWALL VEIN IS NARROWER AND OF SLIGHTLY HIGHER GRADE THAN THE SANGER VEIN, WHICH IS WIDER, LONGER, AND OF SOMEWHAT LOWER GRADE. A HAND-HELD SILVER PROBE (GAMMA DEVICE) IS BEING UTILIZED TO ESTIMATE SILVER VALUES AT THE MINE FACES. THIS TECHNIQUE ALLOWS THE MINERS TO SELECT THE AREA OF HIGHEST SILVER VALUES ACROSS THE MINE FACE BEFORE SETTING EACH ROUND AND FOR STORING ON THE SURFACE ORES OF DIFFERENT GRADE
Comment (Workings): SEVERAL SHALLOW CUTS AND 60 FT OF SHAFT WORK, 42 FT OF TUNNEL WORK BY 1920'S. SHAFT, INCLINE AND 1500 FT OF UNDERGROUND WORKINGS
Comment (Geology): LOW GRADE ORE HAS QUARTZ GANGUE; HIGH-GRADE ORE HAS CALCITE GANGUE; BEST GRADE ORE HAS BARITE GANGUE
Comment (Location): 0.7 MILES N 15 W FROM MOHAWK MINE.. UTM IS TO MAIN SHAFT ON THE PROPERTY ; INFO FROM LAND.ST :(1972)
Comment (Development): WAS STILL PRODUCING IN 1977, A SMALL PRODUCTION OF SILVER WAS REPORTED FROM THE FRANCIS MINE IN 1922. IN 1984, THERE WAS A SIX-MAN CREW MINING AND DEVELOPING ALONG BOTH ENDS OF 2 PARALLEL VEINS, WITH A WORK SHOP, ORE PADS AND LIVING QUARTERS ON THE PROPERTY.
