MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Commodity): THERE IS AN ASSOCIATION OF GOLD AND PYRITE IN THE UNOXIDIZED ORE. AU:AG RATIO 19:1.
Comment (Location): LOCATED ON THE SE FLANK OF THE CARLIN WINDOW. OPEN PIT OVERLAPS GOLD QUARRY DEPOSIT. DO NOT CONFUSE THIS MINE WITH MAGGIE CREEK BARITE MINE (UTM 4517777N, 565410E, RECORD #M232283). . INFO FROM LAND.ST :1972
Comment (Reserve-Resource): MINE TOUR BY NBMG GEOLOGISTS, 5/82.
Comment (Workings): MAGGIE CREEK IS DIVIDED INTO THE MAIN PIT AND THE WEST PIT. MINING RATE IN 1980 WAS 16,000 TPD ORE AND WASTE. FIGURES REPRESENT MAIN PIT DIMENSIONS IN 1986 WHEN OPERATIONS WERE TRANSFERRED TO THE GOLD QUARRY MINE. THE MAGGIE CREEK MINE CURRENTLY FORMS THE WEST AND SOUTHWEST PORTIONS OF THE GOLD QUARRY PIT. ORE REMAINING AT THE IDLE MAGGIE CREEK DEPOSIT WILL BE MINED AS THE EXPANDING GOLD QUARRY PIT ENCOMPASSES IT.
Comment (Geology): HOST ROCKS ARE PART OF THE UPPER PLATE TRANSITIONAL SERIES.
Comment (Production): MINED AT RATE OF 16000 TPD IN 1979. INTERMITTENT PRODUCTION, 1984-1988.
Comment (Development): THE FIRST CLAIMS IN THE VICINITY OF MAGGIE CREEK WERE STAKED IN 1925 BY A. BERNING, WHO LEASED THE PROPERTY TO CUBA CONSOLIDATED MINES COMPANY. IN 1936, CUBA CONSOLIDATED SHIPPED 60 TONS OF ORE AVERAGING 0.417 OPT AU, 0.882 OPT AG. NEWMONT CORP. ACQUIRED THE PROPERTY IN 1962 AND CONDUCTED A DRILLING PROGRAM IN 1963-64 IN THE VICINITY OF WHAT IS NOW THE NORTHERN LIMIT OF GOLD QUARRY. DRILLING WAS CENTERED SW OF THE JASPEROID OUTCROP FROM WHICH THE 60 TONS OF ORE WERE MINED. THE MAGGIE CREEK CLAIMS WERE REACQUIRED IN 1977 AND A DRILLING PROGRAM WAS INITIATED. DEVELOPMENT DRILLING BEGAN IN THE SPRING OF 1978 AND CONTINUED UNTIL THE FALL OF 1979. MINING BEGAN JULY 1980 AND CEASED IN 1986 WHEN OPERATIONS TRANSFERRED TO THE ADJACENT GOLD QUARRY MINE. PERCUSSION DRILLING IN 1987 REVEALED THAT THE MAGGIE CREEK SOUTH ORE ZONE IS CONTINUOUS AT DEPTH TO THE EAST, BLOSSOMING INTO THE UPPER PORTIONS OF THE DEEP WEST OREBODY. A SMALL DEPOSIT KNOWN AS MC LEACH OCCURS SW OF MAGGIE CREEK ALONG
Comment (Development): EXTENSIONS OF THE GOLD QUARRY/LES FAULT SYSTEM.
Comment (Deposit): FIGURES ARE FOR THE MAIN PIT ORE ZONES.
