MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Location): OPEN PIT NORTH OF ADELAIDE CROWN MINE . INFO FROM LAND.ST :(1972)
Comment (Development): INACTIVE IN 1984
Comment (Workings): LARGE OPEN CUT UP TO 20 M WIDE AND NEARLY THE SAME DEPTH
Comment (Deposit): PYRITE AND GOLD MINERALIZATION OCCUR IN QUARTZ VEINS, STOCKWORKS AND REPLACEMENTS ALONG A FAULT IN OLIVE SILSTONE AND SANDSTONE, MUCH OF THE PYRITE IS OXIDIZED TO LIMONITE IN THE ZONE. THE ELONGATE OPEN PIT FOLLOWS THE FAULT ZONE; APPARENTLY FAULT BRECCIATION AND LATER SILIFICATION AND VEINING EXTENDED FOR A CONSIDERABLE DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE FAULT. THE MAJORITY OF THE PIT IS IN THE APPARENT HANGING WALL OF THE FAULT, AS A MAJOR STRAND GENERALLY LIES ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE PIT. THE CONTINUATION OF THE VEIN TO THE SOUTH OF THIS PIT PASSES THROUGH PITS OF THE ADELAIDE CROWN MINES, WHERE IT STILL TRENDS DUE NORTH, BUT DIPS 70W.
