MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comment (Location): ON EAST FLANK OF NIGHTINGALE MOUNTAINS ABOUT 1 MILE NORTH OF NIGHTINGALE . INFO FROM LAND.ST :(1972)
Comment (Deposit): THIN LIMESTONE BEDS ARE CUT BY AN IRREGULAR GRANODIORITE CONTACT, AND THEY ARE ONLY PARTLY ALTERED TO TACTITE. ON THE MAMMOTH CLAIM, PARTLY ALTERED LIMESTONE CONTAINS SPARSE SCHEELITE, ALTHOUGH SOME OF THE CRYSTALS ARE NEARLY AN INCH IN DIAMETER. THE TACTITE CONTAINS ABUNDANT GARNET CRYSTALS IN QUARTZOSE LENTICULAR LAYERS. MOST OF THE ROCK IS CRYSTALLINE CALCITE WITH ONLY MINOR EPIDOTE. AT THE NORTHERNMOST PROSPECT ON THE MAMMOTH CLAIM A GARNETIZED LAYER, WITH GARNETS AS MUCH AS 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER IS EXPOSED BY AN OPEN CUT AND SHORT ADIT. THE LAYER IS 4 FT THICK, BUT CONTAINS NO VISIBLE SCHEELITE. ON THE SCHEELITE EXTENSION CLAIM, SOUTH OF THE MAMMOTH CLAIM, 2 ADITS EXPLORE LIMESTONE BEDS WITH MANY THIN LAYERS OF SILICATE ROCK BUT NO TACTITE. MATERIAL ON THE DUMPS CONTAINS SOME GARNET AND EPIDOTE WITH ABUNDANT QUARTZ AND CALCITE, BUT NO SCHEELITE. ON THE DON CLAIM, SOUTH OF THE SCHEELITE EXTENSION, 4 ADITS EXPLORE PARTIALLY ALTERED LIMESTONE BEDS. SOME CLUSTERS OF
Comment (Deposit): COARSE-GRAINED EPIDOTE OCCUR LOCALLY WITH A FEW SPARSE CRYSTALS OF SCHEELITE, BUT NO MINEABLE ORE WAS FOUND.
Comment (Workings): 3 SHALLOW SHAFTS, 7 SHORT ADITS, SEVERAL SHALLOW PITS; PARALLEL INCLINES, OPEN PITS, TRENCHES
Comment (Development): OWNED BY GOLD-SILVER-TUNGSTEN CO. IN 1942 THE CLAIMS WERE EXPLORED BY 3 SHALLOW SHAFTS, 7 SHORT ADITS AND SEVERAL SHALLOW PITS
