Comments

Comment (Deposit): MASSIVE WHITE QUARTZ VEIN ROLLS ALONG STRIKE AND DIP TO CONFORM TO CLEAVAGE PLANES IN KNOTTED SCHIST WALLROCK, WHICH IS CARBONACEOUS. APLITE DIKE IN HANGING WALL OF VEIN AT WESTERN EXPOSURE . VEIN IS 15-20 FT THICK, AND HAS PARALLEL VEINLETS IN BOTH WALLS. OPEN VUGS IN VEIN LINED WITH TERMINATE CLEAR QUARTZ CRYSTALS, STREAKS AND CLOTS OF WALLROCK IN VEIN; IRON-OXIDE STAIN AND SOME GREEN AND BLUE CU STAIN. AT MAIN VEIN EXPOSURES IN INCLINES, VEIN IS N70-80W, 30-40 NE. PARTS OF THE VEIN ON FOOTWALL ARE BRECCIATED AND RECEMENTED WITH DARK, CLEAR QUARTZ. DOWN THE NOSE OF THE RIDGE, SSW OF SITE 2605, OTHER PARALLEL QUARTZ LENSES CROP OUT, A N20E, 50 SE PLUG FOLLOWS VEIN ON WEST, AND OTHER MASSES OF THE RHYOLITE CROP OUT ON THE SLOPE TO THE WEST. A THIN SECTION OF THE DIKE ROCK SHOWED IT TO BE KAOLINIZED AND VEINED WITH SILICA.
