Comments
Comment (Workings): NO MINE WORKINGS. DEPOSIT EXPLORED BY DRILLING
Comment (Deposit): THIS IS PROBABLY THE LARGEST KNOWN DEPOSIT, WORLDWIDE, OF THIS DEPOSIT TYPE. REFERENCE FOR THIS DEPOSIT TYPE IS: LINDSEY, D.A., AND SHAWE, D.R., 1982, SPOR MOUNTAIN BE-F-U DEPOSITS, IN, ERICKSON, R.L., COMPILER, CHARACTERISTICS OF MINERAL DEPOSIT OCCURRENCES: U.S.GEOLOGICAL SURVEY OPEN-FILE REPORT 82-795, P.67-69. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 5 PERS COMM
Comment (Reserve-Resource): THIS IS THE ESTIMATE OF THE RESERVES FOR ALL OF BRUSH-WELLMANS HOLDINGS IN THE SPOR MOUNTAIN DISTRICT. A QUARTER TO A THIRD OF THIS ORE IS CONTAINED IN THE MONITOR DEPOSIT.
Comment (Development): IN 1977, THIS DEPOSIT BELONGED TO THE ANACONDA COMPANY, BUT IT NOW BELONGS TO BRUSH-WELLMAN. NO MINING HAS BEEN DONE ON THIS DEPOSIT YET, BUT IT CONTAINS SOME OF THE LARGEST RESERVES IN THE DISTRICT.
Comment (Deposit): Discovery Year: 1960'S
Comment (Deposit): DEPOSIT IS A REPLACEMENT OF THE BERYLLIUM TUFF MEMBER OF THE SPOR MOUNTAIN FORMATION. BE TRANSPORTED IN HYDROTHERMAL SOLUTIONS AS A FLUORIDE COMPLEX AND DEPOSITED UPON PRECIPITATION OF FLUORITE REPLACING DOLOMITE IN THE TUFF.
