MANY OF THE BLACK SAND DEPOSITS ARE ADJACENT TO THE TITANIFEROUS SANDSTONE AND TUFF LENSES FROM WHICH TITANIFEROUS MAGNETITE AND MAGNETITE HAVE WEATHERED OUT. BLACK SAND CONCENTRATE SAMPLES SUBMITTED BY OWNERS CONTAINED 9.2% TIO2. SAMPLES COLLECTED BY NEVADA BUR. MINES AVERAGED FROM 0.5 TO 8.2% TIO2.
