Comments

Comment (Production): MINING INTERMITTANT FROM 1905-1956.

Comment (Deposit): VEIN IS COMPOSED CHIEFLY OF QUARTZ AND PYRITE BUT CONTAINS SPHALERITE, GALENA,CHALCOPYRITE AND TETRAHEDRITE WHICH REPLACE OLDER QUARTZ AND PYRITE OR RECEMENTS THEM WHERE FRACTURED OR BRECCIATED. OCCURING IN SMALL IRR. VEINLETS ARE YOUNGER MIN., A TELLURIDE OF AU AND AG AND NATIVE AU IN AGANGUE OF FINE GRAINED QUARTZ. ORE SHOOT ARE LARGER AND EXTEND DEEPER AS THE E END OF THE KATIE MINE IS APPROACHED. IT HAS 2 DISTINCT VEINS.

Comment (Workings): MINES ON VEIN OFFSET BY NORTHWEST-TRENDING FAULT. HOPE AND KATIE SHAFTS ON SOUTHERN SEGMENT AND KATIE EXTENSION ON NORTHERN SEGMENT. HOPE AND KATIE SHAFTS STARTED ABOUT 1893. NORTHERN SEGMENT DEVELOPED BY EAST KATIE EXTENSION AND WHITE ELEPHANT SHAFTS BEGUN ABOUT 1923 AND AN UNNAMED SHAFT SUNK IN 1955. 1923 300-TON MILL EQUIPPED FOR GRAVITY CONCENTRATION AND FLOATION WAS BUILT.

Comment (Reserve-Resource): VEIN HAS DIMENSIONS ABOUT 2000 FT. LONG BY 20 FT. WIDE MINED TO A DEPTH OF 500 FT. GIVING ABOUT 2,000,000 ST. MINERALIZED GROUND. TOTAL OF ABOUT 250,000 ST ORE HAS BEEN MINED FROM RICHER PORTIONS OF VEIN. ASSUMING AN ADDITIONAL 200,000 ST COULD BE RECOVERED FROM THE UPPER WORKINGS AND ASSUMING THAT THE VEIN COULD BE MINED AN ADDITIONAL 100 FT. IN DEPTH GIVES RESOURCES OF ABOUT 500,000 ST. ABOUT 2/3 OF THE HOPE-KATIE PORTION HAS BEEN STOPED TO THE 500 LEVEL; NO STOPES HAVE BEEN SHOWN BELOW THE 500 LEVEL.

Comment (Location): NW PART OF BASIN. ; INFO FROM LAND.ST :(1954)
