Comments
Comment (Location): LOCATION IS ESTIMATED FROM HARLEY'S (1940, P. 54) DIRECTIONS. ; INFO FROM LAND.ST :(1979)
Comment (Production): NO PRODUCTION FIGURES ARE AVAILABLE
Comment (Development): O.A. HADLEY WAS THE EX-GOVERNOR OF ARKANSAS.
Comment (Deposit): THE ORE OCCURS IN A SERIES OF VEINS STRIKING N 20 W CUTTING THROUGH THE GRAY MICACEOUS SCHIST COUNTRY ROCK. THE SCHIST HAS BEEN EXTENSIVELY ALTERED ALONG BOTH WALLS OF THE VEIN. THE SCHIST CONSISTS MOSTLY OF QUARTZ AND BIOTITE. QUARTZ AND CALCITE ARE THE PRINCIPAL VEIN MATERIALS AND EPIDOTE, GARNET, AMPHIBOLE AND SPECULAR HEMATITE ARE ABUNDANT IN THE WALL ROCK. TOURMALINE ALSO OCCURS IN SOME OF THE DUMP SAMPLES. THE ORE CONSISTS OF BORNITE, CHALCOPYRITE, CHALCOCITE AND MOLYBDENITE. VARYING AMOUNTS OF GOLD HAVE ALSO BEEN FOUND. THE OUTCROPS OF THE VEINS ARE OXIDIZED TO A BROWN GRANULAR MASS AND ARE STAINED WITH MALCHITE AND AZURIE.
Comment (Workings): WORKINGS CONSIST OF THE RISING SUN SHAFT, 172-FT. DEEP, WITH A 400-FT. TUNNEL DRIVEN SOUTH FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE SHAFT; AND THE AZURE SHAFT, 160-FT. DEEP, WITH DRIFTS ON THE 100 AND 150-FOOT LEVELS.
Comment (Geology): THE PRECAMBRIAN SCHIST DOES NOT HAVE A FORMAL NAME IN THIS AREA.
