Chlorite Schist Sometimes Resembles Serpentine Schist Due To The Lusterous Green; In Places This Rock Has A Pseudomorphic Texture Much Like Serpentinized Peridotite But The Phenocrysts Instead Of Being Bastite Are Chlorite Embedded In A Fine-Grained Chlorite Matrix.

Comment (Geology): GEOL.DESC: SLATE INTERBEDDED WITH THIN LAYERED SANDSTONE AVERAGING 2 INCHES; LENSES OF LIMESTONE 2 TO 3 FT. THICK OCCUR ABOVE VOLCANIC ROCKS AND THINNER LENSES OF CONGLOMERATE OCCUR IN SLATE BELOW THE VOLCANICS. BETWEEN GREEN-CHLORITE SCHIST AND BLACK SLATE A NARROW BELT OF PYROXENITE OR HORNBLENDITE OR AN ALLIED HORNBLENDE-PYROXENE PERIDOTITE EXISTS.
