The Union Pass Magnetite Taconite is a iron mine located in Sublette county, Wyoming at an elevation of 11,001 feet.
About the MRDS Data:
All mine locations were obtained from the USGS Mineral Resources Data System. The locations and other information in this database have not been verified for accuracy. It should be assumed that all mines are on private property.

Comments
Comment (Deposit): SURFACE EXPOSURES OF THE BODY COMPRISE 60-70% OF THE OUTCROP AREA OF 1600 BY 2500 FT. The taconite occurs IN PARALLEL LAYERS 5-30 FT THICK that are SYNFORMAL IN STRUCTURE. Precambrian gneiss an dmigmatite separate the leayers. Migmatite and amphibolite surround the taconite.
Comment (Location): South central part of township in a cirque in the Clear Creek drainage at an elevation greater than 11,000 ft.
Comment (Location): Moved old MRDS location at -109-44-2 43-18-27 to -109-42-15 43-18-30 to be 1.75 mi. West of Downs Peak and in a cirque above 11,000 ft. Assume this is the upper reaches of Clear Creek. Clear Creek is labeled on the west side of Bear Lake but not on the east side between Hunters Hump and Northwest Peak.
