Satelite View

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments

Comment (Deposit): Although Bull. 50 describes Ketchum Buttes as being in sec. 9, it mentions the western-most "Butte" which the topo shows in sec. 8. Bull 50 goes on to describe a prospect pit which is very likely the prospect shown on the topo on the west-most butte. "A small prospect pit shows uranium mineralization in 3-ft. thick limonite-stained claystone. A 3 ft. channel sample in the claystone assayed 0.32% U3O8." (Bull, 50, p. 210)

Comment (Geology): MINOBRAS (p. A-8) says:"Past production, uranophane in limonte-stained claystone-sdandsotne in the North Park Fm.(?) (Miocene) some assays show 0.32% U3O8." But RME-3125 says Browns Park Formation.
