Comment (Development): EARLY DEVELOPMENT BEGAN IN THE SPRING OF 1899 WITH PRODUCTION OF 3 OR 4 CARLOADS OF ORE BY AUGUST, 1899. THIS WORK CONTINUED THROUGH JANUARY, 1900. PROPERTY WAS UNDER A LEASE AGREEMENT IN 1906 TO STRONG AND VINCENT OF SALT LAKE CITY, HOWEVER NO DEVELOPMENT OCCURRED AND A MR. O'DONNELL OF SALT LAKE PLANNED TO CONDUCT DEVELOPMENT WORK. IN NOVEMBER OF 1913, A SMALL FORCE OF MEN CONDUCTED DEVELOPMENT WORK ON THE MINE (INFORMATION FROM THE SALT LAKE MINING REVIEW.)

Comment (Production): 3 OR 4 CARLOADS OF ORE SAID TO HAVE BEEN SHIPPED BY AUGUST OF 1899, GOLD GRADES GIVEN AS DOLLARS PER TON

Comment (Geology): DATE ON SERICITE FROM BAR X MINE YIELDED AN AGE OF 16.3 +/- 0.7 M.Y. THIS AGE PROBABLY REPRESENTS THE AGE OF MN-PB-ZN-AG MINERALIZATION FOR THE AREA, INCLUDING THE UTONIA MINE MINERALIZATION. HOST ROCKS ARE MIDDLE PROTEROZOIC IN AGE, PRECAMBRIAN Y. QUARTZ MONZONITE DIKES REPORTEDLY ENCOUNTERED AT THE NEARBY BAR X MINE. SMALL PLUGS OF INTRUSIVE ROCKS OF INTERMEDIATE COMPOSITION, WHICH ARE HIGHLY ARGILLIZED AND PYRITIC, LIE APPROXIMATELY 2,000 FT SOUTH OF THE UTONIA MINE. HOST ROCKS NOT FOMRALLY NAMED

Comment (Deposit): Discovery Year: 1890'S

Comment (Deposit): DEPOSIT CONSISTS OF DISSEMINATED GRAINS OF GALENA, SPHALERITE, PYRITE, AND MANGANESE MINERALS REPLACING GREENISH ARGILLITE. REPLACEMENT LOCALLY RESULTED IN MASSIVE PODS OF ORE CONSISTING OF BLEBS OF GALENA AND SPHALERITE IN A RHODONITE MATRIX. INACCESSIBILITY OF WORKINGS PREVENTED DETERMINATION OF FORM OF DEPOSIT. MINERALIZING SOLUTIONS PRESUMABLY WERE INTRODUCED ALONG FRACTURES, HOWEVER NO MAJOR FAULTS WERE MAPPED NEAR THE DEPOSIT. CONTROLLING FRACTURES PROBABLY STRIKE NW. THIS DEPOSIT IS PROBABLY A VARIETY OF THE POLYMETALLIC VEIN AND REPLACEMENT DEPOSIT-TYPE (TINTIC DISTRICT-TYPE)

Comment (Workings): WORKINGS CONSIST OF 3 ADITS AND ONE PROSPECT PIT. ADITS ARE INACCESSIBLE DUE TO FLOODING AND CAVING. DUMPS DERIVED FROM ADITS ARE SMALL, INDICATING A TOTAL COMBINED LENGTH OF WORKINGS OF LESS THAN 700 FT. PROSPECT PIT IS APPROXIMATELY 10X15X15 FT.
