Satelite View

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments

Comment (Deposit): Model Name = Contact metamorphic tungsten deposit (Cox and Singer, 1986; model 14a)

Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = Country rock consists of high-grade pelitic schist with subordinate calcareous schist, marble and augen gneiss. The country rock is intruded by W-bearing granitic rocks. The carbonate rocks are metamorphosed to skarn near the intrusive contacts. Scheelite appears in skarn beds and local quartz monzonite. W values are up to 2000 ppm, with minor Sn, Mo, and Cu (D. Menzie, oral commun., 1986).

Comment (Exploration): Status = Inactive
