Comment (Geology): GEOL.DESC: MANGANIFEROUS BED OF QUARTZITE (METAMORPHOSED CHERT) ENCLOSED IN THE QUARTZ MICA PELONA SCHIST, OF PRECAMBRIAN AGE. MANGANIFEROUS BED IS 1 1/2 TO 9 FT THICK; 165 FT. LONG, AND MAXIMUM DEPTH IS 10 FT. THE ORE IS OFFSET BY SMALL CROSS FAULTS. THE MANGANESE ORE IS PARTIALLY OXIDIZED RHODONITE AND SPESSARTITE, CUT BY QUARTZ VEINLETS. SOME MATERIAL HAS BEEN OXIDIZED TO PSILOMELANE.
