Mine Info
Satelite View
MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (General): Listed as being in Shirley Basin Mining District on MS-94, but shown at least a mile to the East on the map.
Comment (Geology): Past production, uranium associated with iron-bearing pegmatite, disseminated in sandstone, Casper Form. (Penn.). (MINOBRAS, p. A-2).
Comment (Location): MINOBRAS erroneously places this in Crook County. It is just a few sections east of the border in Albany County.
Comment (Geology): YELLOW URAN MIN IN GRAY DOLOMITE OF MADISON FM MANG AND CHAL [copied from deleted MAS record 056001081 = newMRDS 10302250, but information is unverified. Only reference was to "AEC prelim field inv airborne ra anomalies". This information conflicts with verified data. Suggest deleting.]
Comment (Deposit): "Uranium occurs along a narrow breccia zone 5 ft. thick in the basal Pennsylvanian part of the Casper formation. The uranium mineral questionably identified as staffelite (uraniferous carbonate fluroapatite[sic]), is disseminated in a pale botryoidal apatite up to several mm. in size." (Bull. 50, p. 209).
