Comments

Comment (Geology): Osterwald and others p. 56: "Gray sandstone in the Beckwith formation contains copper carbonates at 3 places along the axis of an overturned anticline". But, citing Veatch, 1907, they say "copper is in a yellow standstone in the Twin Creek Formation".

Comment (Location): Location was extremely misplaced. In OFR 01-497, it was close to -110.82 41.91547. This is about 22 mi too far to the NNE. Location given in Bull. 50 is T19N, R120W, 25 mi. north of Evanston and 5 mil from Bear River. However, the source of the information is Veatch, 1907, USGS PP-56, p. 163 and plate XXIII. In that publication the location of Cockscomb is T19N, R119W, Secs. 22, 23, 26, 27, and 35. The location of the first 4 common section corners is about -110-57-48, 41-36-30. Comparing the 1907 map with modern topos indicates the name of the mountain was changed from Cockscomb to Sawtooth Mountain.
