Comment (Development): AURIFEROUS GRAVEL FOUND ON BENCH ON LOST CHICKEN HILL 275 FT. ABOVE CREEK IN 1901. BENCH PLACER FIRST WORKED BY DRIFTING. WHEN MINED OUT, THE PAYSTREAK WAS FOLLOWED DOWN THE WEST SIDE OF THE VALLEY OF LOST CHICKEN CREEK. MINING IN LATER YEARS CONFINED TO VALLEY, MAINLY BY HYDRAULIC METHODS. INTERMITTANT MINING.
Comment (Deposit): GOLD IN LOWER PART OF GRAVEL AND ON BEDROCK. GOLD DISCOVERED AT A DEPTH OF 33 FT. IN BENCH GRAVEL. MOST OF GOLD FOUND ON HIGH BENCHES ON THE WEST SIDE OF CREEK.
Comment (Workings): DRIFTS RAN FROM SHAFTS 33 TO 55 FT. DEEP.
Comment (Geology): BEDROCK SURFACE UNEVEN AND HARD TO CLEAN. ; MAJOR.UNITS: BEDROCK IS DECOMPOSED GRANITIC ROCKS, SAID TO BE QUARTZ DIORITE CUT BY A BASALT DIKE. ; REG.COM: GOLD THOUGHT TO BE DERIVED LOCALLY FROM GRANITIC INTRUSIVE ROCKS.
