Comments

Comment (Deposit): THE VEINS ARE 2 FT TO 20 FT WIDE. THEY ARE OPEN TEXTURED, SPONGY AND CONTAIN SOLUTION CAVITIES RANGING IN SIZE FROM SMALL VUGS TO ELONGATE CAVES.

Comment (Workings): IN 1942 THE DEWEY WAS REPORTED TO BE INACCESSIBLE AND THE WHITE SWAN WAS ONLY ACCESSIBLE TO THE 80 FT LEVEL AND THE 130 FT LEVEL. 5 PATENTED CLAIMS COVERING ABOUT 90 ACRES. SEE NEW MEXICO MINERAL PLAT SURVEY NUMBER 1439.

Comment (Geology): FOR GENERAL GEOLOGY SEE SIERRA CABALLOS DISTRICT.

Comment (Deposit): THE DEWEY AND WHITE SWAN MINES HAVE BEEN REPORTED TO CONTAIN AN ESTIMATED 26000 TONS OF MEASURABLE, INDICATED AND INFERRED ORE WITH AN AVERAGE GRADE OF 0.53 % VANADIUM PENTOXIDE AND AT THE 1944 PRICES THIS ORE COULD NOT BE ECONOMICALLY MINED. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT

Comment (Location): NORTHEAST OF PALOMAS GAP ON THE EAST FLANK OF THE NORTHERN CABALLOS MOUNTAINS.

Comment (Reserve-Resource): V RESOURCES PROBABLY NIL.

Comment (Production): A SMALL PLANT WAS BUILT AT CUTTER, N. MEX., TO MAKE V CONCENTRATES BUT OPERATED ONLY A SHORT TIME (LASKY, S. G., AND WOOTTON, T. P., 1933, NEW MEXICO SCHOOL MINES BULL. 7). HESS (1913) REPORTS A FEW HUNDRED POUNDS V2O5 PRODUCED IN 1911.
