Comment (Geology): GEOL.DESC: QUARTZ ORE VEIN IN SLATE NEAR CONTACT WITH GREENSTONE; MAIN ORE SHOOT 8 FT X 150 FT., SMALL RICH ORE BODY DISCOVERED AT 1000 FT LEVEL, BEST ORE AT 1500 FT LEVEL, PRODUCTION ORE TO 2000 FT LEVEL WITH COARSE GOLD IN THIN QUARTZ SEAMS. SLATE EAST OF CONTACT, GREENSTONE (META-ANDESITE).
Comment (Production): ONE OF THE IMPORTANT EARLY-DAY LODE MINES, PRODUCING ORE AVERAGING AS HIGH AS $40 PER TON IN THE 1860'S. OPERATED INTERMITTENTLY UNTIL LATE 1890'S WHEN EXTENSIVE DEVELOPMENT WORK WAS DONE AND NEW MILL ERECTED. AFTER THIS WORK OPERATED UNTIL 1914; IDLE SINCE. TOTAL PRODUCTION WAS IN EXCESS OF $2,500,000, BEFORE ITS SALE TO SO. EUREKA MNG. CO. HOLDINGS OF 283 ACRES. THIS MINE WAS CONNECTED WITH THE SOUTH EUREKA MINE ON THE 1800 FT. LEVEL.
