Comment (Production): 1851 6 STAMP MILL PRODUCED 1000 OZ AU/DAY. SOME BONANZA ORE, BUT RECENT PRODUCTION FROM ORE BETWEEN $6.50 - $7/TON. ORE AVG. $25/TON AT $13/OZ IN MIDDLE 1870'S .
Comment (Deposit): VEIN, AVG 6 - 8 FT THICK. ALSO MASSES OF WALL ROCK IMPREGNATED W/AURIFEROUS PYRITE RUNNING 0.09 OZ AU/TON
Comment (Workings): 4 SHAFTS, EXTENSIVE DRIFTING & STOPES
Comment (Geology): WALL ROCKS ARE MAINLY MICACEOUS AND AMPHIBOLE-BEARING SCHISTS AND DARK QUARTZ-BIOTITE HORNFELSES OF UPPER JURASSIC AGE. VEIN IS ACCOMPANIED BY A LIGHT-COLORED FELSITIC DIKE WHICH ADJOINS THE VEIN ON THE FOOTWALL SIDE IN THE SOUTHEAST WORKINGS AND ON THE HANGING WALL SIDE IN THE NORTHWEST WORKINGS. SMALL, IRREGULAR INTRUSIONS OF HORNBLENDIC GRANITIC ROCK PENETRATE TO THE SURFACE. MUCH OF THE METAMORPHIC ROCK HAS BEEN DERIVED FROM PLATY, TUFFACEOUS METASEDIMENTS.
