Comments
Comment (Geology): CINNABAR OCCURS AS FRACTURE FILLINGS AND DISSEMINATED CRYSTALS INRHYOLITE AND ALTERED TUFF. THE SOIL PANS CINNABAR FOR SEVERAL HUNDRED YARDS UP-CANYON FROM THE PRINCIPAL WORKINGS
Comment (Deposit): PLACER CINNABAR WAS DISCOVERED IN STREAM GRAVEL IN 1913 AND SOON THEREAFTER, A SHALLOW SHAFT WAS SUNK IN THE STREAM BED. IN 1941, THE BRADLEY MINING CO. EXPLORED IT WITH NO PRODUCTION. IN 1941, LESSEES INSTALLED A 4-PIPE RETORT AND PRODUCED SOME HG FROM SORTED ORE. DEVELOPMENT CONSISTS OF 2 50-FT SHAFTS CONNECTED WITH SHORT DRIFTS, AS WELL AS SURFACE CUTS AND SHORT ADITS ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT; 3 FIELD OBSERV
Comment (Location): "IN A CANYON THAT BRANCHES SOUTHWARD FROM CANYON CREEK"
Comment (Workings): 2 SHAFTS, SHORT ADITS, DRIFTS, SURFACE CUTS. ALL UNDERGROUND WORKINGS INACCESSIBLE IN 1980.
Comment (Production): HOLMES SAYS SML AMOUNT PRODUCED IN 1941-1942
Comment (Deposit): PANNING OF SURFACE SOILS IN THE MINE AREA INDICATE UP TO 0.1 % HG IS PRESENT IN AN AREA 1000 FT BY 100 FT
